Detail
Radon-222 is a radioactive gas from the breakdown of uranium in rocks and soil. It can build up in basements and ground-floor rooms. IARC lists radon-222 and decay products as Group 1 with sufficient evidence for lung cancer. Home test kits and mitigation systems are inexpensive and widely available.
